It is something most of us use without thinking twice. Whether it's at a café, airport, hotel, or even a shopping mall, it feels convenient and harmless. You connect, scroll, send a few emails, and go on with your day.
But behind that convenience, there can be real risks.
Public WiFi networks are often not properly secured, which means the data you send and receive can be more exposed than you think. On an unsecured network, cybercriminals may be able to intercept your activity, especially if you're logging into accounts, checking emails, or accessing work-related files.
You may think you're browsing safely, but your information could be passing through an unsafe source without you even realizing it. These are set up to look like legitimate public connections, tricking users into joining. Once connected, your data can become much easier to access.
This doesn't mean you should never use public WiFi again, but it does mean you should be aware and cautious. Small habits can make a big difference in protecting your information:
In a world where we're always connected, cyber safety is just as important as physical safety. A few seconds of caution can save you from serious data risks.
